USGIF Now Accepting Proposals for GEOINT 2020 Lightning Talks

Lightning Talks are an opportunity to collaborate and educate colleagues on topics relevant to the GEOINT 2020 theme: “New Decade, Challenges, and Strategies.” Lightning Talks are 6 minutes in length. The talks will take place from 2 to 4 p.m., April 27 and 28. Lightning Talks should focus on GEOINT applications performed by scientists, academics, analysts, or other community professionals. Visuals, demos, and graphics are strongly encouraged, but should avoid charts that contain so much information that the type font has to be very small.

USGIF Organizational Members, Individual Members, and Academic Partners/Accredited School representatives are invited to submit Lightning Talk proposals. Authors of the accepted proposals will be expected to register for the event. Submissions imply a commitment to attend the GEOINT Symposium if selected. Marketing pitches are not acceptable and will be disregarded during the proposal review process.

Proposals will be reviewed by a Review Committee and a limited number of proposals will be accepted, with priority given to interesting, creative, and practical ideas directly related to the main themes of the Symposium.

All submissions must be emailed to no later than 5 p.m. EST March 3.

Registration and Housing Now Open

Registration and housing are now open for GEOINT 2020 Symposium attendees! Make sure to book your hotel room and take advantage of early bird discounts when you register.

The early bird registration rate ends Jan. 28.

All official GEOINT 2020 hotels are conveniently located within walking distance of the Tampa Convention Center, and are only available through our website and our registration partner SPARGO.

USGIF is also offering discounted flights to Tampa through United Airlines and Delta Airlines.

USGIF Awards Program Deadline Feb. 6

USGIF’s 2020 Awards Program is now open and accepting applications. The program annually recognizes the exceptional work of the GEOINT tradecraft’s brightest minds and innovative organizations. Categories include achievement in academia, community support, government, industry, and military. Winners will be presented their awards at GEOINT 2020.

Applications are due no later than Feb. 6.

Join the GEOINT 2020 Innovative Tradecraft Competition

USGIF and the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) bring you the inaugural GEOINT 2020 Innovative Tradecraft Competition, an opportunity to demonstrate best practices in data discovery and alignment addressing mission problems through visualization, discovering needles in needle stacks, data sharing, and interoperability.

The competition will include a first round on Feb. 4 at the Trajectory Events Center in Herndon, Va. with a final round at the GEOINT 2020 Symposium. Winner to be named the GEOINT 2020 Innovative Tradecraft Champion.

USGIF is offering the opportunity to conduct training and education sessions during the GEOINT 2020 Symposium, April 26-29 at the Tampa Convention Center in Tampa, Fla.

USGIF individual or organizational members, and collegiate accredited programs designated representatives may apply to present a two-hour class related to global GEOINT topics with a focus on human security and national or homeland security.*

The purpose of these training sessions is for geospatial intelligence subject matter experts to provide updates on new topics, applications, technology, policy, and tradecraft. All training sessions are learning opportunities for attendees. Certificates of Participation will be awarded this year upon USGIF verification of actual attendance.
